Alison Engelbrecht (Ali as she prefers to be known) has co-ordinated the well-established and renowned Women In Business organisation in a voluntary capacity for the past 15 years. Women In Business is a social networking platform for entrepreneurial women in pursuance of entrepreneurial excellence reaching across the African continent and making inroads world wide.
In 2018 Ali was nominated and won the 2018/2019 South African & SADC countries, Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business & Government – SME Sector.
Through online and face to face interactions, functions and events entrepreneurial women are encouraged, informally mentored and through these interactions women are able to form networks to support their own businesses. Ali works closely with the PMCB to offer members a well rounded and supportive business experience.
Education has and still is the driving force behind her endeavours to mentor, mould, encourage, and drive the next generation of leaders, managers, employers and employees. Ali has practised as an educator for 30+ years, currently holding the position of Co-Ordinator: Online Teaching and Learning for the IIE Varsity College Distance Centre.
Ali is a born and bred KZN Midlands woman, who grew up on a farm in Howick. She completed her Teaching qualification through UKZN (Howard College) and her Honours in Education through UNISA. Ali is a qualified Financial Accountant having completed her studies through the ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) in December 2018. Ali believes that studying is a life long process.
Ali loves to “road trip” either in her beloved Land Rover or by foot completing and competing in long distance events. Ali lives by the mantra by Coco Chanel – ‘in order to be irreplaceable one must always be different’.
