Ash Roopchand born and raised in Pietermaritzburg is currently appointed to the position of Operations Manager at Pressure Die Castings where he has been employed for the past 18 years. His main focus is Automotive and Export markets.
Pressure Die Castings, a Pietermaritzburg based company which was established in 1952 currently employs approximately 300 people. PDC supplies a diverse range of markets which include; automotive, fire protection, electrical reticulation, plumbing and building hardware. Approximately 70% of products made at PDC are directly or indirectly exported.
Ash Roopchand has 10 years of management experience in various aspects of the business, which include, technical (managing the aluminium, brass and zinc foundry), HR (building and maintaining internal communication channels), sales, quality management, logistics(export/local), and managing customer relationships locally and internationally.
He has completed his bachelor’s degree in Operations Management through the Durban University of Technology and has completed many short courses since then, which include lean manufacturing, lean six sigma and quality systems (ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO TS 16949).
International trade has empowered him to travel extensively to different countries exposing him to different cultures and economics. He frequently attends international trade shows to keep up to date with the evolving technologies and potential markets worldwide.
