Bongi Mshengu obtained a BA degree at the University of South Africa, Diploma in Social Work at the University of Zululand, a Diploma in Personnel Management at the University of South Africa, a Certificate in Labour Law at the University of Natal and Programme for Management Development at the University of Cape Town.
He has over 30 years’ experience in the Human Resources field, having worked for a number of organizations both in private and public sector. Bongi has operated at an executive level for many years as a Human Resources Director. He acted as a CEO of a R4 billion organization for a period of seven months. He established Bhekani Consulting in 2003, which specializes in staffing, training and facilitation. He has a passion for leadership and community development. He also spent a number of years in the government service as a Social Worker and a Director. He has handled human resources projects in Namibia and Ethiopia and has consulted for public and private organizations.
Bongi is the past Regional President of the Black Management Forum, past Chairman of United Community Chests of South Africa and has been, for many years, a non executive member of PMB Chamber of Industries. He currently serves on the Boards of Mhlathuze Water and Durban International Convention Centre. In 1997 he was voted Manager of the Year by Black Management Forum.
