PRESENTER: Steve Colenbrander

What personal attributes and skills make successful business people.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Steve was born in Nongoma in June 1960 & grew up on a farm in Magudu in Northern KZN.
He attended school at Merchiston and Maritzburg College in Pietermaritzburg, and matriculated in 1978.
After 2 years compulsory National Service in the SA Infantry, Steve attended UKZN in Maritzburg and qualified with a B.Comm degree majoring in Agricultural Economics in 1983.
Steve managed a dairy farm in Ixopo for two years before signing articles in 1986, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990, having completed his articles with Deloitte & Touche.
Steve worked in commerce in the sawmilling and meat processing industry, before returning to the profession in 1996.
Steve is the founder of Colenbrander Inc, who are registered accountants and auditors based in Pietermaritzburg. Colenbrander Inc employ approximately 85 people, and are involved in a host of other businesses related to the financial services industry, notably recruitment, forensic auditing, short term insurance and IT support.
Steve is married to Jenny. They live in Howick and have four children ranging from the age of 16 to 4. His hobbies are squash and mountain biking, and the rest of his spare time is spent running around his children!
