LEAN INTO THE FUTURE

In this session we are looking at 3 key strategies to succeed in an increasingly complex digital and connected world.

“According to a 2015 survey by the Global Center for Digital Business Transformation, business leaders said that nearly half of the top-ranked companies in their industries will be gone by 2020.” According to Steve Case, co-founder of AOL in his book The Third wave.

In this new fast paced connected world, it is critical that organisations lean into the future and have a bias towards action and innovation. Trying more experiments knowing many will fail, will enable established firms to become nimble, more innovative and more entrepreneurial.

In our next Lean Forum we will unpack 3 key strategies to prepare for the future.
• Be curious, be paranoid
Curiosity is one of the cornerstones of Lean. Every member needs to be curious about what is happening today and tomorrow and what is happening next. That’s the reason we ask why? We ask how am I adding value to the customer? Am I nimble enough to react or lead market change?
• Know your place
Know your place, know your people, know your company’s needs and know how to develop talent from your resources.
• Be an attacker, not a defender
Jeff Bezos, CEO and Founder of Amazon recently said “It’s not a matter of if Amazon is disrupted but when.’ The attackers maximise opportunity and defenders minimise risk. “If you are not re-inventing your company, I guarantee you are falling backwards”, Fujio Cho, Vice Chairman of Toyota
