PIETERMARITZBURG IN 2017”
The UCI Bike City initiative is set to continue in 2017 with a number of international cycling events and national initiatives that will take place during the course of the year.

Since 2009, Lenferna has overseen the UCI Bike City initiative and since then, Pietermaritzburg has been recognised as Africa’s Bike City and is one of only three UCI Bike City’s around the world – a status it shares with Copenhagen for Europe and Melbourne for Australasia. In this time, 2 x Continental Championships have been staged in the city as well as 10 x UCI World Cup events and 5 x UCI World Championships in different disciplines. In fact, Pmb is now recognised as the venue that has staged the most different cycling World Cups and World Championships anywhere in the world.
