Cars in the Park

The Sunday Tribune Cars in the Park Pietermaritzburg is the highlight event on the Vintage Sports Car Club calendar.
Held annually, during May, this extremely popular event, the largest of its type in KZN, is a draw card for motoring enthusiasts from all over South Africa. The first Cars in the Park was held in February 1976.
The event is a large gathering of enthusiasts from numerous clubs and features a wide variety of makes of motor cars, trucks, tractors and simply fascinating vehicles. There are over a thousand four hundred different exhibits, so there is ample to see and do as you meander around the Ashburton Training Centre an ideal setting for this event. Over 30 Vendors provide food, drinks, coffee, ice cream, etc. and +- 40 flea markets stands provide for interesting shopping arena. A beer garden, live band, and a free children’s playground area certainly makes for an entertaining and fun-filled family day.
A number of interesting vehicles can be seen at Cars in the Park, and in recent years it has featured antiques such as a 1904 Cadillac, vintage steam vehicles, super cars, special off road vehicles, motorcycles and the latest and greatest motorcars that manufacturers have to offer.
Cars in the Park, PMB, attracts a multitude of enthusiasts from clubs favouring such well-known names as Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Ford, Jaguar, MG, Morris, Triumph, Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen and Volvo to name but a few.
Industrial and farm machinery is also displayed as well as a fine selection of veteran, vintage and classic motorcycles.
Clubs members, and any car, bike, etc. enthusiasts are welcome to enter their vehicle, motorcycles, etc. for the show by going to our registration web page http://register.carsinthepark.net/ There you can register your vehicle and will be sent a form to place on your vehicle to gain access to the event.

Coming from either Durban or Pietermaritzburg turn off at the Ashburton N3 off ramp, and on the road over the highway, Pope Ellis Drive, turn right and follow the road for +- 2km to the Ashburton Training Centre on the left.
