Gandhi Peace Walk

FREEDOM SQUARE TO RAILWAY STATION
Theme – Gandhi’s ideology of:- Truth (Satyagraha) and Non-Violence (Ahimsa) and Love & Peace (Sarvodaya) incorporating the promotion of Unity in Diversity
Route Plan/Agenda :-
The Peace walk shall commence at about 14h00 from Freedom Square (next to Central Taxi Rank in Church Street–Pietermaritzburg, en route to the station the procession will stop at the Gandhi Statue to pay homage to Gandhi.
At the Railway Station various diverse cultural items will be staged on the platform. Speeches will be presented on Gandhi and other struggle hero’s ideology and relevance to our democracy celebration and, to continue building our Rainbow South African Nation. Meals will be served at conclusion.
Parking/Drop Off Points:-
Participants must be dropped off at the Freedom square by 13h00. Safe parking will be provided at the Railway Station, a Shuttle bus service will be provided to transport drivers ( no passengers) back to Freedom Square.
Please encourage the youth to get involved in such celebrations to preserve our history by honouring our liberation struggle heroes, example Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Harry Gwala and so many others.
